Tariq Al Hajri, photographer based in Muscat.
“I am at that age where I know everything and nothing at all simultaneously. I use photography as a means of expressing my own visuals and to emphasize diversity in artistic and distinct ways. These combinations help me to interact with different people who have a unique understanding of life. I find inspiration in almost everything around me. The elements presented in my work are mostly natural light, architecture, and Omani suburbia. My goal is to make people curious and to inspire them to see a bit of themselves in every person on this planet, regardless of gender, age, color, culture, or religion. “
The main concept behind the work series: Rejuvenation of Pastthat motivated Tariq was inspired by the pictures of women taken by A.R Fernandez in the 1900’s when he visited Oman. The six characters are based on Tariq’s childhood memories of his neighbors back in his hometown, Sur. Growing up in the village, Tariq remembers seeing his neighbor’s daily pace. Their paces were branded into his memories, where he has kept them through a youthful perspective. With vibrant colors, and playful objects, he revived these memories for today’s eyes. To him, old memories create new memories.
