STAL GALLERY OVERVIEW

Stal Gallery & Studio - the Alserkal Group's first cultural project in the Sultanate of Oman. Stal Gallery relies on the generosity of its supporters to assist with the cost of acquiring works of art and providing programs and services that promote the visual arts of young Omani artists and established Omani artists, throughout the Oman and internationally.

OUR MISSION

The mission of the Stal Art Gallery and Studio is to promote the creation, appreciation and engagement of the visual arts in all media in Muscat and the surrounding region.

Integral to all aspects of the Gallery programme is an extensive offering of educational opportunities for all ages through policies and programmes which are excellent, innovative and inclusive. 

Young Emerging Artists Program -  is the first program of its kind to support Young Artists in Oman to work alongside an established artist Hassan Meer and other leading Omani and international artists. 

The program provides access to professional skills development, library, online profiling, showcasing of their projects and opportunities to engage with national artistic networks to develop the Career Paths of Oman’s next generation of artists. The YEAP program aims to provide the young graduate artists with the practices and experience that will make them more confident and competitive for the future employment and career development. 

OUR VISION

The Gallery is committed to promoting a contemporary visual arts programmes with a balanced focus on educating and promoting young Omani artists, while simultaneously affirming and challenging the public’s appreciation and understanding of contemporary and innovative approaches to the visual arts. The Gallery aims to develop educational projects in collaboration with local and international artists, and is itself a site of artistic production with an associated dedicated residential artists’ studio.

OUR GOAL

The goal is to provide a venue and facilities in Muscat for audiences and artists, primarily but not solely for the visual arts, which offers the highest standards of design, programme and operation, and form an artistic hub for creation, exhibition and engagement, with a national and international profile.

Skills-sharing Community Engagement Programmes are an important part of our educational projects, based on practical demonstrations of techniques, skills; art talks; interactive workshops and master classes, designed for target audiences within the local community: professional artists; students, schools, disability organizations and more.

ABOUT ALSERKAL

Alserkal Group is an organization committed to changing the overall cultural landscape of the UAE, through its flagship project Alserkal Avenue by providing a framework for different creatives and communities to foster International dialogue and cultural exchange. In 2011, it welcomed Salsali Private Museum- a first private collection, not -for-profit in the region. In addition to this in 2012, Dubai made International headlines, as two art galleries from Alserkal Avenue- Green Art Gallery and Isabelle Van Den Eynde, were selected with their projects to exhibit at Art Basel Switzerland, for the first time in the history of the Gulf.

Alserkal Avenue makes a commitment to the arts, cultural projects and creative businesses alike to further cultivate and develop the arts scene of Dubai with its planned expansion for 2014. Today, Alserkal Avenue is known as a go-to place for art exhibition openings, workshops, seminars, young collectors auctions and community events.

RESIDENCY IN STAL STUDIO

Studio Stal offers a dedicated residential space in the heart of Muscat for national and international artists. The studio consists of a fully equipped kitchen, separate bedroom and bathroom along with a large studio and exhibition space.

WORKSHOPS AT STAL STUDIO

It is a destination for both an experienced artists and beginners. We work with what you are interested in, so that you can develop your own creative style. Our workshops are suited to all levels, skills, ages, daily. Pre-booking.

RESEARCHES AT STAL LIBRARY

The library comprises a major contemporary art and design research collection of print titles, newspapers, magazines, catalogues, brochures  booklets, books, auction catalogs, serial subscriptions, and extensive digital collections.

EXHIBITION AT STAL GALLERY

We support cross-cultural exhibition projects, with exchange opportunities for students, professionals, artists, and researchers from around the Globe.

Each exhibition is reviewed by the International Exhibition Curatorial Team, and has a selection basis.
