Our Journey So Far

2013

STAL GALLERY IS FOUNDED

Stal Gallery & Studio - the Alserkal Group's first cultural project in the Sultanate of Oman. Stal Gallery relies on the generosity of its supporters to assist with the cost of acquiring works of art and providing programs and services that promote the visual arts of young Omani artists and established Omani artists, throughout the Oman and internationally.

2015

YOUNG EMERGING ARTIST PRIZE 1ST EDITION LAUNCHED

Stal Gallery Young and Emerging Artists Prize (YEAP) is an annual program, which supports young and emerging Omani artists aged between 18 and 35, to develop their creative careers. This Program provides access for professional skills development, online profiling, usage of multimedia technology and displaying a wider presentation of the visual arts.

We’re promoting the contemporary art

The Gallery is committed to promoting a contemporary visual arts programmes with a balanced focus on educating and promoting young Omani artists, while simultaneously affirming the public’s appreciation and understanding of contemporary and innovative approaches to the visual arts. The Gallery aims to develop educational projects in collaboration with local and international artists, and is itself a site of artistic production with an associated dedicated residential artists’ studio.

ABOUT ALSERKAL

A different approach, using a new method of not-for-profit projects

Alserkal Group is an organization committed to changing the overall cultural landscape of the UAE, through its flagship project Alserkal Avenue. In 2011, it welcomed Salsali Private Museum - a first private collection, not-for-profit in the region. In addition to this in 2012, Dubai made International headlines, as two art galleries from Alserkal Avenue- Green Art Gallery and Isabelle Van Den Eynde, were selected with their projects to exhibit at Art Basel Switzerland, for the first time in the history of the Gulf.

Alserkal Avenue makes a commitment to the arts, cultural projects and creative businesses alike to further cultivate and develop the arts scene of Dubai with its planned expansion for 2014. Today, Alserkal Avenue is known as a go-to place for art exhibition, workshops, seminars, young collectors auctions and community events.

In April of 2012, Alserkal family has been recognized for their contribution to the arts and culture with the Patron of the Arts award by HH Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai. For more information visit www.alserkalavenue.ae.

ARTIST RESIDENCY

Stal Studio offers a dedicated residential space in the heart of Muscat for international artists. The studio consists of a fully equipped kitchen, separate bedroom and bathroom along with a large studio and exhibition space.The Creative Residency program is an opportunity for artists and curators to live-create-exhibit in the heart of Muscat, in a local environment.
