Unveiled in Rhythm: A Collective Celebration of Movement, Memory and the Female Voice
Muscat: Stal Gallery and Studio opens its doors to Unveiled in Rhythm, an exhibition that brings together five leading female artists whose work explores rhythm as the pulse of life. The showcase features new pieces by Dr. Aisha Moammar Al Gaddafi, Her Highness Sayyidah Afra Al Said, Sarah Al Aulaqi, Hafsa Al Tamimi and Enaam Ahmed, each interpreting movement, emotion and memory in her own distinctive way.
The exhibition follows a preview earlier this year during the Muscat Art Exhibition at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre, where Afra, Aisha and Sarah introduced selections of their new work. At Stal Gallery, their expanded collections now appear in full for the first time, joined by fresh contributions from Tamimi and Ahmed. Together they create a multi-layered exploration of rhythm through painting, collage, video and mixed media.
At its core, Unveiled in Rhythm reveals the quiet beat that shapes human experience. Across the gallery, rhythm appears not only as motion or sound but also as emotional current, cultural marker and shared memory connecting individual stories to a wider collective.
Dr. Aisha Moammar Al Gaddafi extends the narrative she began in her solo exhibition A Feather’s Pulse, originally shown at Alia Gallery. Her works delve into psychological rhythm, layering colour, tension and abstraction to reflect human sensitivity and inner movement. Her practice celebrates the strength of female creativity and challenges inherited narratives through bold experimentation.

Her Highness Sayyidah Afra Al Said turns everyday life into visual poetry. Through collage and video, she captures gestures, journeys, shifting landscapes and the quiet motion of people and animals. Her compositions create a gentle rhythm where images and textures flow together like a soft melodic line.

Sarah Al Aulaqi presents surreal multimedia works rooted in mythology and contemporary symbolism. Through collage and digital layering, she creates dreamlike narratives that pulse with the rhythm of memory, transformation and the fluid connection between past and present.

Hafsa Al Tamimi explores stillness as a form of rhythm. Her figurative paintings portray Omani women in reflective moments, capturing the emotional tempo of domestic life and revealing resilience within moments of calm.

For Enaam Ahmed, rhythm appears in motion and vitality. Her expressive horse paintings convey strength, heritage and freedom, linking identity with movement through vivid strokes and dynamic forms.
Volodymyra Sobolevska of Stal Gallery reflects on the exhibition’s shared essence:
“Unveiled in Rhythm’ represents a significant moment for Stal Gallery. The exhibition brings together paintings, installations, and video works that demonstrate the breadth of contemporary artistic practice and its resonance well beyond the traditional art circle. It also marks the presentation of the new collections created by the five Female artists here in Oman.
Some artworks on view come from private collections and have previously appeared in museum, making their public presentation here a rare opportunity. These include works shown in Aisha AlGaddafi’s exhibition ‘Daughter of Libya’ at the State Museum of Oriental Art in Moscow, as well as pieces by H.H. Sayyidah Afra Al Said, whose practice has been recognised by prominent art houses in the United Kingdom. We are also proud to feature Hafsa Al Tamimi’s ‘Woman and the Bisht’, which gained notable attention at Khaleeji Art Museum at the Dubai Festival City.
Our educational outreach has been especially meaningful. We welcomed students from Beaconhouse International Private School for an educational art talk and guided art tour led by H.H. Sayyidah Afra Al Said on November 25, 2025, and students from the American International School of Muscat joined a guided visit on December 2, 2025 that I had the pleasure of leading. On 24 November we were further honoured by the visit of Italian curator Mr. Claudio Scorretti and His Excellency Pierluigi D’Elia, Ambassador of Italy to Oman. Bringing these works and their diverse artistic voices into one cohesive exhibition has been a privilege.”

Across the gallery, Unveiled in Rhythm forms a visual symphony that blends movement with stillness, sound with silence and personal expression with shared experience. It reinforces Stal Gallery’s role in supporting Omani and regional women artists and highlights the evolving creative pulse shaping contemporary art in the Sultanate.
The exhibition offers more than a presentation of artworks. It offers a space to sense, pause and recognise the subtle rhythm that moves through art and through life.
Unveiled in Rhythm is open to the public until 10 December, giving visitors ample time to experience this collective heartbeat at their own pace.
