TANGIBLE MONOLOGUES

13th - 31st October 2019

Italian-Omani Exhibition Tangible Monologues, Unexpected Geographies of Self-portraits, held under the patronage of Her Excellency An Ambassador of Italy to Oman Federica Favi.

THE EXHIBITION CONCEPT

On the occasion of the Contemporary Art Day, the Embassy of Italy and Stal Gallery present a project where the monologues are put in a relation with each other, thus stimulating a dialogue between different ways of looking at our times and cultural environment.

In connection with the theme of the 58’ Venice Art Biennale - May you live in interesting times- emerging Italian and Omani artists reflected on the deep meaning of a self-portrait, discovering tangible, unexpected relations.

WORKSHOP

This exhibition is accompanied by a Workshopwith Gloriamaria Gorreri- WinnerOf The “ArteficiDel NostroTempo” Award held in Connection With 58° Venice Biennale “Mostarda”, for example, (the prize winning video) wants to take the audience behind the scenes of the artistic creation, a creation that feeds on the unsolved problems of existence. Even though GloriamariaGorreriis not the direct protagonist of the video, she considers it a sort of self-portrait because there are lots of details referring her life and emotional sphere.

In conformity with the approach of “Mostarda”, the workshop was intended to be an invitation to turn the “how” into the subject, a subject that coincides with the complexity of the artist’s gaze, conceived beyond the artwork.
