Mohamed Mehdi Jawad Al Lawati
A calligraphy and lettering artist
Born and raised in Muscat, Sultanate of Oman, Mohamed Mehdi studied Business and is currently running his family business.
He is a Calligrapher, Digital Artist and Photographer.
A member of Omani Society of Fine Arts.
He learnt Classical Arabic Calligraphy since his childhood both in his hometown and abroad in Jordan, UAE and Istanbul. He learnt calligraphy from several renowned calligraphers such as: Mahmoud Taha, Taj Al-Sir Hassan and Hassan Chalabi.
In the last few years he has converted to more contemporary calligraphy mixed with abstract art. He uses various media, including inks and acrylic paint on canvas and paper.
He held several Solo Exhibitions both in Jordan and the Sultanate of Oman, (Stal Gallery 2024). The first to introduce digital calligraphy in the Sultanate of Oman and the Sharjah Calligraphy Biennial.
He has many artistic achievements including the design of books, commercial products, and logos. He has commissioned several private works in Oman and the UAE, and has also designed for private projects.
He published his book “The Skies of Karbala” which includes 59 paintings about Imam Hussein bin Ali, “may God be pleased with him.”
He has won many artistic awards , the most recent being “Best Visual Artistic Award for Gulf Participation”, in the World Art Dubai 2024 exhibition, which was held in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
