“When I moved to Oman in 2010, to live and work, I had no idea at the time the profound effect this would have on my life. I fell in love with this beautiful country and its people. It felt like I was being lifted up and “standing on the shoulders of giants”.
 
Oman’s rich culture and heritage inspired me to paint with renewed passion. The Omani artists welcomed me into their community and helped me believe in myself. I learned so much from them. They helped give me the confidence to explore new ideas and techniques.
For as long as I can remember I have enjoyed drawing and painting portraits. I have always been able to capture a good likeness of a person, but over the past few years I have realized that portraiture is much more than just what a person looks like. So I began to paint portraits in a new way; portraits that have a deeper meaning.
 
I first began thinking about this exhibition back in the Summer of 2018. After eight wonderful years of living in Oman I was sadly leaving to return to the UK.
This exhibition is a series of paintings that are made up of a variety of icons and images that represent each individual and thus giving an insight into who they truly are. The icons are symbolic and significant giving the viewer more knowledge and understanding; delving deep into the portraits’ souls.
Now, nearly five years later, I have returned to beloved Oman to share with you my journey of discovery, as an artist. Enjoy!”
